Your house is your home. Even as you get older, you want to continue living safely and comfortably. Have you ever thought about what that means for you? If you want to continue living where you are now, what adjustments are sensible? Or is it better to move in the long term?
What can you do to live more safely?
Safe living starts with you. Ask yourself some questions and answer honestly; are there any loose cords, crooked paving stones or carpets? Do you always walk down the stairs calmly, even when the doorbell rings? Do you still take a shower easily? Do you have good lighting everywhere? Do you never leave candles burning unattended?
- Security at the door and anti-burglary measures: tips can be found in the brochure Seniors and safety from the police.
- Fire safety: How to make your home more fire safe and what to do in the event of a fire can be read in the Action card for seniors of the fire brigade. And do you have a mobility scooter? Then also read Tips for fire-safe use.
- Fall prevention: and how you can reduce the risk of falling, you can find out in the brochure Make sure you don't fall at home.
