The number of seniors in the Netherlands is growing and they are living independently at home for longer. However, the available help from professional organisations is decreasing. More is expected of informal carers, while their number is actually decreasing. This is a major challenge that Sterk Ouderenwerk is happy to find a solution for together with seniors. By supporting residents to take good care of themselves and each other, they can remain independent at home for longer with mutual help.
What is a Precautionary Circle?
A Precautionary Circle is a social network of people from the neighbourhood. People can call on each other within this. This means giving help, but also asking someone else. A Precautionary Circle consists of about 8 to 14 people who live close to each other (for example in a street, neighbourhood or residential complex). A good starting point here is reciprocity. A Precautionary Circle is open to people of all ages who want to contribute to a group of people who look out for each other.
Helping each other
Being part of a Precautionary Circle means that someone is already making arrangements 'as a precaution' or 'just in case' to help each other with mutual help and support. For example, with daily things, such as grocery shopping, drinking coffee together or help with transportation. Someone can also walk the dog if the owner is sick. Together we can make it happen!
Costs
Participation in a Precautionary Circle is free.
For the Precautionary Circles we work together with a number of local partners, such as Talis and Bindkracht10.
